Anaplasmosis

Definition: A bacterial disease of Cats Characterized by Lethargy,Fever,Vomiting,Weight loss and Lameness.

Cause: Gram -ve bacteria

  • Family: Anaplasmataceae
  • Genus: Ehrlichia

Signs and Symptoms:

  • Lethargy
  • Fever
  • Vomiting
  • Weight loss
  • Lameness

Diagnosis:

  • History of the case: Cats access to outdoors
  • Complete blood count: Thrombocytopenia,Hyper globulinemia and Hyper glycemia
  • Serology
  • PCR Test

Treatment:

  • Administration of Antibiotics (Doxycycline: 5 gm/Kg )
