Clinical Cases:
Definition: The accumulation of fluids inside the peritoneal cavity of the animal which lead to Abdominal distention.
Cause:
- Abdominal Neoplasia: The most common Cause of Ascites
- Hypo albuminemia: Due to chronic hepatic disease
- Congestive Heart failure
- Hemorrhage
Signs and Symptoms:
- Impending respiration
- Diaphragmatic excursions
Diagnosis:
- Thoracic Auscultation: murmur or gallop sounds
- Abdominal Palpation
- Complete blood count
- Radiography
- Bile Acid
Treatment:
- Must be treat the primary disease which cause Ascites
- Abdominocentesis
- Furosemide: Used when the Ascites is secondary to Congestive Heart Failure
- 0.50 mg/kg
