Clinical Cases :
Avian Chlamydiosis : Acute or Chronic infectious disease of certain poultry,many cage,wild and migratory birds .
It`s also called Psittacosis or Parrot fever
Cause : Chlamydia psittaci
Clinical Signs :
- Difficulty Breath
- Discharge from eyes
- Decrease in appetite
- Weight loss
- Weakness
- Diarrhea
Susceptibility :
- Domestic birds
- Wild birds
- Rare in Chickens
- Affected all ages but young is more suscept to infection .
Mode of Infection :
- Inhalation (infected dust and droplets )
- Ingestion (food contaminated with infected droplets )
- Carrier birds
- Skin ( By ticks and mites )
The disease Can transmitted to Man ( Zoonotic disease )
Control :
Depend mainly on treatment By tetracyclins or oxytetracyclins for long period (15-45 days )
