Definition: One of the clostridial diseases affect all the species but mainly chickenĀ  and turkey.

Cause:

  • Clostridial Septicum
  • Clostridial Perfringens
  • Clostridial Sporogens
  • Clostridial Novyi

Predisposing:

  • Mechanical Trauma
  • Canabilism

Factors enhance susceptibility –> Immuno suppressive agents as:

  • Gumboro
  • IBH
  • Chicken Anemia
  • Mareks
  • Reo

Mode of infection:

Micro organism –> Wound invasion –> Toxins –> Cellulitis –> Toxemia –> Death

Signs:

  • Skin necrosis
  • SubCutenous edema
  • Depression

Lab diagnosis:

Skin or lesion in liver –> Smear –> Gram`s stain –> Gram +ve = Rod shape organism

Treatment:

Injection with penicillin or ampicillin or Amoxcillin
